  • Originally googling it the internet said not to wake them up to feed and I unfortunately did not wake them up for two nights to feed but I felt too bad and kept waking up anyway but watched your videos and will definitely wake up at any hour needed to feed them. They are 3 weeks old and only have them for two days now but they are already getting stronger.

The kitty photo on phone is a great tip and really helps you get up. To anyone thinking of caring for a kitten it is not that bad and the rewards far outweigh the bad! It is such a fulfilling experience! 😍

  • So I keep having this weird thing where I wake up (without an alarm and about an hour er two before I actually have to feed the baby), and I guess I'm halfway in a dream and find myself looking for the baby in the strangest places, even though she's still in her box. This morning I woke up and thought she had gotten into my pillow case, and pulled the whole case off looking for her before realizing what was going on. The day before (I think), I picked up one of my black socks thinking it was the baby. The day before that, and this is the _real_ weird one... I swear I thought she was inside my hand/thumb, like she was crawling around under my skin somehow, I was literally squeezing my thumb trying to cajole her out of it

  • I find for me a timer works better than alarms ❤️ a timer will keep ringing until its turned off. I've been bottle feeding for nearly 10 years now and I find that for me, alarms are annoying to set and change as the day goes on. A timer I can adjust on the fly, if kitten didn't eat as well as I'd like I can get up a bit earlier, and if during the day times get moved around its not too hard to adjust times. But if you won't remember to set a timer (or ask google to 😴) alarms are definitely safer. I make sure everything is set up, garbage can is empty, bottle is full and second bottle is in the fridge just in case, heat source is set and I leave a sticky note on the thermometer in the bucket-nest of the temperature it should be. Pen is at the ready next to the weight/feeding chart. Preparedness is soooooo important, it's crucial for overnight feedings

  • I have a condition that means I only need about 2-4 hours of sleep naturally. It is very useful for nursing animals and people. Hannah is right, a couple minutes being up is going to be fine for people. Just if you have to do it long term for sick adult animals, get someone to swap shifts with you occasionally so you can get proper sleep.

  • Five minutes?? FIVE MINUTES??? I haven't slept longer than a 3 hour shift in almost 2 weeks because feeding our 3 week-old kitten takes like 30 minutes. 10 minutes to feed her, and 20 minutes to stare at her as she sleeps wondering what we did to deserve her coming to us: she's stolen our sleep and our hearts!

  • I keep baby and all the supplies right next to the bed so that all I have to get up for is to warm the bottle in hot water. I always go right back to sleep. At my age, though, it does affect how much energy I have during the day but, heh, a small price to save a life.

  • I am thinking of fostering a newborn kitten when im older and i need to learn how to. You are the only person i trust and watch when it comes the kittens bc you work is incredible. Please help me out and make a video of how to care for newborn kittens for the 1st time. Its would help me alot. Just a feeding schedule, how to tell the gender, how to weigh them, how to keep them warm and get rid of fleas etc. But all i ask is that you do a day and night schedule of your newborn kittens and how *you* take care of them. It would help me alot. ( *Im 100% Subscribed and i have been watching your videos for years* )

  • Ok I'm not fostering kittens (yet) but the fact that she's prioritizing not just taking care of the kittens, but making sure that the *caretaker* is taking care of themself... I'm struggling to articulate how much I needed to hear that right now.

  • This is my first time fostering a kitten, and it's hard, so hard that i actually cry because of it. They take more than 1 hour to feed, and sometimes it's not even enough. I think i should buy an easier nipple because maybe that's the reason they're hard to feed.

    • @Peri Dentist good to hear that someone can help out with the kittens! I can totally understand you and would probably feel the same way, however, from my perspective you did such a brave act of kindness and should really be proud of yourself for giving it a chance! Maybe next time there will be a litter with weaned kittens or with their mom which should be way easier. Don't be too hard on yourself and please don't give up fostering kittens. I am 100% sure the kitten lady was not such a pro when taking care for her first kittens. Wish you all the best and stay positive :)

  • We have our first kittens that you inspired. Their age is unknown. The shelter claimed they were 11 days old, but their weight does not match that development at all. We are fairly sure they are 3 weeks because their teeth have emerged on top in the last 24-36 hours. They are starving and never satisfied with the amount of formula we are giving them. We are feeding according to the chart in your book based on their weight, but are wondering if we should offer them more based on their age, development, and demand. If you see this please respond with any advice.

  • The kitten we have been orphaning is really small. She is 4 weeks old and only 320grams. The vet isn't concerned as long as she is gaining weight. But we have been sticking to feeding times for weight instead of age. So we're still feeding every 3 hours. I think a normal life cycle would be easy but it has been exhausting 😴

Too many people believe kittens are just puppies with pointy ears and nothing could be further from the truth. You explain their unique qualities and needs very well. Bless you for that. I hope your book and videos reach an ever-widening audience. ~ Lisa

I am educating myself about cats since I don't have the heart to abandon him 😢 but I usually feel disgusted with having to care for the pee and poop resulting to I couldn't eat. Urgh, it's hard for me to get use to it.
